And Many More!
Some sofas, particularly older ones or those made with specific materials, may contain or have been treated with Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).
These POPs may include flame retardants like polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), which were once used for fire safety but are now recognized as harmful.
Sofas can no longer be mixed with general waste due to their potential POPs content.
Disposing of materials containing POPs is currently six times more expensive per kilogram than general waste.
